Quinta do Orgal, located in Castelo Melhor - Vila Nova de Foz Côa was acquired and since then more than 35 hectares of organically farmed vineyards have been planted.

Although this is the sub-region of the Douro with the lowest density of vine plantation, mainly due to traditionally difficult access, and scarcity of labour , it is currently considered one of the terroirs with most potential in the Douro Region.

Here, red varieties of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão were planted in predominantly north – facing schist slopes, with altitudes ranging from 130 to 350 meters. Angelino’s vineyard was also planted here – a mixed – planted plot – as was once the tradition here – with the red varieties Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Rufete, and Baga.

The official certification for 'organic vineyards' was granted on the 20th of February 2015, with effect from the 20th of February 2012.
